Description: SHAKMAT 23 Year Old is a limited-edition, 23-year-old Armenian brandy created by Flaviar in partnership with Proshyan.  Its name, “Shakmat,” means chess in Armenian, reflecting Armenia’s love of the game and its rich distilling tradition .  Shakmat is distilled from local grape varieties (Kangun, Kakhet, Garan Dmak, Rkatsiteli) and aged 23 years in Caucasian oak barrels .  On the nose it is intensely aromatic with dried fruits (plums, raisins), walnut and gentle spice.  The palate is velvety and full-bodied, unveiling flavors of honey, fig, dark chocolate and vanilla, with complex hints of tobacco, clove and oak .  These layers build to a long, sophisticated finish.  Shakmat 23 YO is best enjoyed neat (in a tulip or snifter) so one can appreciate its rich, multi-dimensional character and the craftsmanship behind this rare Armenian spirit.
