Riga Black Balsam Original is a legendary Latvian herbal liqueur crafted since 1752 by pharmacist Abraham Kunze. This iconic spirit is made from a secret blend of 24 natural ingredients—including birch buds, ginger, bilberries, raspberries, and Peruvian balsamic oil—infused in oak barrels to create a rich, complex flavor profile.   

 

The result is a deep, dark brown liqueur with a harmonious balance of bitter and sweet notes. Its flavor combines the earthy bitterness of herbs with the subtle sweetness of honey and caramel, complemented by hints of ginger, nutmeg, and black pepper.

 

Traditionally enjoyed neat or over ice, Riga Black Balsam Original is also a versatile ingredient in cocktails. It pairs well with cola, lemonade, or fruit juices.
